November Update
A friend sent me a list of the top 100 books over the past 25years as voted by the ABC Book Club. I'd read and either thoroughly enjoyed, or totally loved, just 25 of those on the list. But there were SO many wonderful books missing from the list and so many excellent authors that it made me ponder the fascination of the world of books and readers. We are all so very different, aren't we? With so many different tastes and expectations. And aren't we lucky that we're part of that world. I'm sure you, like me, know people who aren't 'readers', don't experience the delight of being lost in a good story, haven't experienced the sense of having been transported into another world. And here's a little anecdote I'd like to share;
I have a dear friend of many years who isn't a reader. However, she wanted to support my efforts and downloaded her very first EBook a couple of months ago. This week we enjoyed a catch-up up lunch and she shared a comment, "Oh Maureen, you know I'm so slow...but I'm nearly finished Loose Threads and I'm loving it. I've already bought the next one, the follow-on story, while the characters are still in my head. And you know what? I don't feel like I'm reading a book at all! I actually feel like I'm traveling on this journey with her.'
And for an author...that's what it's all about. Job done! I've sent a friend on a holiday.
PS.... my 5th novel, "The Unremarkable Effie Lyons" has been loaded up for publishing today. Another day or two and it should be ready to download. I have so loved writing this one and the characters have simply evolved by themselves! I think you're going to love Effie ...and the rest! Stay tuned for the link.PPS...I've established a YouTube channel for my books where I'll be contributing short Vids about my books. The link will go up on my Contact page just as soon as the first clip is completed. UPDATE: Link: Maureen's Vlog
